California Sex Offenders List
Public access to the California Sex Offenders List is the result of several acts passed by Congress, which require states - like California - to release relevant information about registered sex offenders to protect the public.
California Registry
Each state differs in terms of how it administers its community notification process. The California sex offenders registry IS accessible on-line via the following link:
California Department of Justice
California Sex Offenders List Excerpt: "California for more than 50 years has required dangerous sex offenders to register with their local law enforcement agencies. However, information on the whereabouts of these sex offenders was not available to the public until the implementation of the Child Molester Identification Line in July 1995. The information available was further expanded by California's Megan's Law in 1996 (Chapter 908, Stats. of 1996)."
Other Registries
Although you can get registered sex offender information directly from a State Sex Offenders List like that of California, in fact, from almost all state government web sites, you'll probably find it easier to do a free search or a full search of several other sex offender registries.
